September Favourites

It has been far too long since I wrote my last favourites blog post, way back in April in fact (April Favourites)!  So with a hectic summer being drawn to a close and the beginning of another year at university, it’s time to get myself back into a proper routine and get my blogging mojo back.  Time to stop rambling and get on with the post I think…

Firstly, let’s talk about the beauty products that I’ve been obsessed with using this past month.  After spending more time in the sun during September than I did during August, I found that my foundation no longer matched my skin tone so I reached for my trusty Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in the shade 100 Ivory.  The coverage is fairly medium but most importantly, it matched perfectly and provides a beautiful, natural glow to the face.  I have also been loving the Urban Decay Naked Basic Palette as it creates a natural, simple smokey eye with beautiful pigmentation and is so tiny with a big mirror – making it ideal for travelling.  The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Cannes (that I picked up in a previous post September Beauty Haul) has easily become one of my most used lip products within my collection.  It is a perfect shade for autumn as it is a beautiful deep pink that isn’t at all drying or flaky when applied to the lips, and for just £5.50 I think that it’s almost time to invest in another.  Finally for beauty, the trusty Real Techniques Bold Metals Tapered Blush Brush has been used constantly throughout this past month.  Whether it be to apply loose powder, bronzer, blusher or highlighter, this brush has definitely been put through its paces and has emerged victorious.  I’d recommend this brush to anyone looking for an all round versatile brush, it is definitely a worthy piece to have within anyone’s make up collection.

Next, we’ll move onto skincare, which I have been getting a lot more into over these past months.  My skin is consistently sensitive throughout the entire year and so I have been desperately trying a variety of products to try and combat this sensitivity and avoid bad breakouts.  I have been trying out the Urban Decay B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray to try to minimise redness and pores.  So far the results are good, I have noticed a reduction in the redness on my cheeks and my make up seems to last a little longer when I use this spray beforehand.  To moisturise my face before bed I am currently loving the Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream as it sinks in quickly to my skin, doesn’t leave it looking sticky or greasy and makes my skin feel super soft when I wake up.  For lips I have been working my way through a little tub of The Body Shop HoneyMania Lip Butter and I absolutely love the scent and it nourishes my lips leaving them feeling soft and well moisturised.  Finally for skincare, I have been moisturising my hands with the Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream as there is nothing that irritates me more than having dry hands.  This product cures that instantly and soaks into my skin quickly and smells of lavender – heavenly!

For haircare, I really enjoy using the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner as my hair can get quite dry and feel damaged so these products help to combat that and leave my hair feeling soft and shiny.  I love the scent of these products and I have recently got back into using them and released just how much I missed them.  The bottles are almost empty so soon will come the time when I need to decide whether to repurchase or to try something different?! To further combat the dryness of my hair I have been using the LUSH H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment, which to be honest I don’t really like the scent of but it does leave my hair looking shinier and softer so I guess there really is no pain without gain.

For fragrance and random favourites, I’ll firstly start out by describing to you the love I have for the Estee Lauder Youth Dew Eau De Parfum which smells absolutely incredible.  It’s a little floral mixed with a little spice, that for me is the perfect autumnal scent.  The packaging is beautiful and I have loved wearing this fragrance throughout this past month and I know I will continue to wear it throughout autumn.

My first random favourite of course has to be the Great British Bake Off, which I have been watching religiously this past month and look forward to each week’s installment of hilarious baking antics and mouth watering creations!  (I really should get back into baking).  Another random favourite of mine has been reading, I’m currently reading the first Game of Thrones book as I have already watched the entire television series so far and was feeling some strong withdrawal symptoms.  My final random favourite was my holiday in Jersey, which was all of two weeks ago and I went with my parents and boyfriend.  We had the most amazing time and I cannot wait to return there in the future, it is definitely one of my favourite holiday destinations.  Hopefully there will be a blog post coming up soon featuring some of the photos I took…
