April Favourites

Another month has flown by and I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be Spring.  But nevertheless Britain never disappoints and has provided us with the odd warm day, numerous rainy days, a thunderstorm and even a few coverings of snow!  April hit back at me big time and I have been suffering with the same cough and cold throughout the entire month.  Regardless of my illness, I have managed to accumulate some products together to provide a post on what I have enjoyed using during this month.

I recently got back into using the MAC Studio Fix Fluid in the shade NC15 as my skin hasn’t been looking so great…  As as a medium coverage foundation it is ideal for anyone who suffers with redness or just prefers an even skintone like myself.  It dries matte on the skin and is very long wearing, I usually wear this on days where I have a lot going on because I can trust that it will stay in place throughout the day.  I do not however enjoy the smell of this foundation, to me it smells a little like paint!  Also to note if you intend to purchase this foundation is that it doesn’t come with a pump, which is a little annoying and even more annoying is when your pump breaks *cries*
Palette wise… I narrowed it down to just the two!  Firstly, the Collection Contour Kit is something I have been reaching for recently, the product is easy to blend and the contour shade isn’t too orangey on the skin.  The highlight is very natural and is very powdery (hence the messy palette) but otherwise for £4 it is a great starter contour kit!  Secondly, on the more pricey side of the beauty world, is the Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Palette which is absolutely gorgeous.  The shades blend seamlessly together and create a beautiful smokey eye when desired or a subtle pop of colour.  This was definitely a spur of the moment splurge but I do not regret it in the slightest!
For eyes, I have been using my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion pretty much on a daily basis because it keeps my eyeshadow in place all day long.  Even if I opt out of wearing eyeshadow I still like to apply it, using my finger to my eyelid, to help my eyeliner stay in place or to just even out the colour of my eyelids.  Another pricey purchase in the form of the Chanel Dimensions De Chanel Mascara in the shade 10 Noir.  Now this is luxury for your lashes, it lengthens, separates, adds volume and nourishes your lashes all at the same time.  I am definitely glad that I splurged on this product too because I have fallen head over heals in love with it… unfortunately for my bank balance I will have to repurchase this when it eventually runs out!
As you may have seen in my First Impressions Post you will know that am currently loving the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette which has made cleaning my brushes a heck of a lot easier!  It fits neatly into your hand and really speeds up the process/chore of brush cleaning.
Speaking of brushes and of Real Techniques, I have been obsessively using the Bold Metals 200 Oval Shadow Brush with the Charlotte Tilbury palette and it has been the perfect combination.  All Real Techniques brushes are irresistibly soft and make blending out eyeshadow that much easier.  I especially love the design of these brushes, they don’t roll off my dressing table and they are so well made that they do most of the work for you!
I have recently been putting my hair in plaits for work to keep my hair out of the way and because my hair has a tendency to get extremely frizzy really quickly I often try out products that will help to reduce that frizz for good.  Currently I’m working my way through the Redken Braid Aid Braid Defining Lotion that tames any frizz that sticks out of my plaits and keeps the braid neater for longer than it usually would, it also helps when plaiting my hair as it adds a little extra texture here and there.  I am also obsessed with the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray which I think I have around three maybe four bottles of now (crazy I know) but it really does help to protect my hair when I use any styling tools and I also use this during summer to tame my frizzy hair if I know that I’m going to be out in the sun.
I am currently re-watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix, I watched it a few years ago and didn’t get very far so now I’m attempting to catch up on everything I’ve missed!
Food wise; I have been eating tonnes of porridge with cinnamon and honey.  It is now my go to food when I’m hungry, regardless of what meal time it is!
I hope you enjoyed reading through what I have loved during April,
Love, Em x
